Detached Garage, Empire, MI
Designed by a local architect, in conjunction with the homeowner, this charming one car garage includes a work bench, attic storage and a carport.  The carport can be used either for an additional car, or for outdoor entertaining.  When it was completed, the owners had a garage warming party complete with picnic tables and admiring neighbors. In the summer, the garage is adorned with flower boxes and provides a bit of shade for a small vegetable garden.  Kayaks and bikes are sheltered but easily accessible for impromptu outings.
